The Institut Universitaire de Technologie was set up in 1969 with, as its first department, the department of "Marketing systems", a branch of that of the Brest IUT. In 1970, the IUT of Quimper became autonomous.

Standing five minutes'drive from the town centre, the IUT of Quimper is made up of 4 departments :

Marketing systems :

Training is provided by professors and professionals, and leads to employment in such fields as selling, distribution, advertising, banking.

Management of transport and logistics :

Training is partly provided by managers from this field, and jobs can range from marketing to exploitation.

Management of companies and public services :

Training is provided by professors and professionals and aims at preparing students for managerial functions.

Applied biology (2 options) :

• Biological and biochemical analysis : mainly leading to jobs in laboratories for medical and biological analyses (hospitals),

• Agro-food industries : employment can quickly be ensured in the agro-food industry (production, control,...).
