Students (131 in number in 1995, a figure which has varied very little over the years) are trained by art teachers, lecturers and artists. Most of the students come from Brittany, although the number of those coming from other regions or from abroad steadily increases.
The College is provided with workshops in such fields as wood-work, metal-work, clay-work, painting, photography, video, engraving, silkscreen printing, computer graphics, pottery.
Practical, plastic and academic classes are organized in accordance with the directives of the Department of Education, although the College has its own teaching structure and promotes specific topics : theoretical and practical approach to the problem of the exhibition ; aspects of other civilisations (with an "anthropological" appoach) or of other so-called "traditional" arts involving contemporary reflections on the concept of creation ; an optional course on "artists' books".
These activities are mainly carried out within the College's gallery itself, which organizes 4 or 5 exhibitions per year, in collaboration with the teaching staff and the Centre for Contemporary Art (whose manager teaches "promotion through the media" at the College).
The museums of Quimper, ie. either the Museum of Fine Arts or the Breton Museum, also contribute to the works of the students, the "Travelling in Finistère" exhibition in May 1995 being a telling example of this fruitful collaboration.
Every year, 4th year students exhibit their works for a short period of time at the College's gallery, publishing their own invitation cards, posters and leaflets.
Every year, an approximate ten students are involved in international exchanges, either through the "Art Accord" networks (Britain and Ireland) or within the framework of the EU ERASMUS programme (Dundee, Limerick, Stockholm, Utrecht, Milan).
Many study trips are also organized, which are part and parcel of the curriculum : Paris, other French regions, foreign countries.
Every year, 4 or 5 training sessions of introduction to film creation are also organized, involving Femis or University professors or film critics from "Positif" or "Les Cahiers du Cinéma".
The College premises are currently being renovated. 4th and 5th year students can be provided with workshops outside the College.
